Balestri Valda Soave

We just added a new wine to our collection. It is an Organic Soave DOC from the very environmentally conscious Balestri Valda winery. This is beautiful wine from a new generation of wine growers. "My idea of viticulture is based on profound respect for the balance of nature. I have said “no” to using pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers. I have said “yes” to biodiversity, safeguarding indigenous grape varieties and beekeeping in the vineyards. Where vines, flowers, woodland, and orchards coexist, bees also find a happy home. Every day I am increasingly grateful for everything that the bees give us and teach us; protecting them is the very least we can do." Laura Rizzotto

Architectural Digest 8/19 Petra Winery Suvereto, Italy Petra Winery, located near the ancient Tuscan village of Suvereto, was designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta and completed in 2003. The structure has architectural features reminiscent of other Botta designs, including a cylindrical core (as seen at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art) and a plant-topped roof (similar to the one crowning the Cathedral of the Resurrection in Évry, France), but the building is firmly grounded in the region, with an exterior clad in rough-hewn pink stone from Verona. A world class architectural environment for wonderful wines!
