Great news! The Perigord Truffle (Melanosporum) season is finally here.

After a few extra weeks of waiting compared to previous years, our Melanosporum truffle season has finally begun!

The warmer winter meant there was no frost to help prompt the truffles to ripen—these exceptional mushrooms really thrive on those thermal shocks to reach their peak.

It’s a bit of a challenging season overall, thanks to the hot summer across Europe, especially in the south, so the harvest might not be as bountiful as we’d hoped.

Because the supply is a bit tight and demand remains high, black Melanosporum truffles are commanding record prices this year. That means snagging fresh truffles to elevate your holiday meals might be a bit tricky, but certainly worth the effort for true connoisseurs.

Our exclusive Perigord Truffle supplier ALENA has been working hard all year—improving the soils, reseeding with truffle spores under the trees, pruning the oaks drastically, and managing irrigation. These efforts are paying off, and you can already see the signs of success: many truffles are emerging, some cracking the earth in a distinctive goosefoot shape—another good indicator of their presence.
