Mazzolino Winery is nestled right in the heart of the Oltrepò Pavese. It’s in this lovely part of the Po River Valley that, back in the 1980s, Enrico Braggiotti discovered the perfect spot to bring his family together and pursue his dream of making exceptional wines. His four children and 12 grandchildren all settled into the five charming houses that make up Corvino San Quirico, a picturesque nineteenth-century village surrounded by lush vineyards. Enrico’s daughter Sandra carried on his vision, turning it into reality by revitalizing the winery and replanting nearly all the vineyards to reach the current 22 hectares. A beautiful new thousand-square-meter cellar, designed by architect Lorenzo Berni, was built alongside the original winery, masterfully blending old charm with modern innovation.
Mazzolino’s 22 hectares are the heart of a vibrant culture that embraces the area’s rich character—once part of old Piedmont—and rekindles its deep-rooted French connections, both through the land and the Braggiotti family’s heritage.
Interestingly, internationally renowned winemaker Kyriakos Kynigopoulos, a true expert in Pinot Noir, was specially brought in from Burgundy to Corvino San Quirico to share his talent on this land full of promise. With his guidance, along with Jean-François Coquard—who graduated from Burgundy University—they crafted a remarkable Pinot Noir and a stunning Chardonnay Blanc.
It’s hard to believe nearly thirty years have gone by since that historic collaboration. Thanks to Jean-François Coquard’s expertise, the Pinot Noir has earned its place in the world’s most refined cellars and wine shops, earning awards at international competitions and receiving praise from top wine guides.
