From a 3.5-hectare, south-facing plot on sandy clay-limestone soils (380m) in Monforte d’Alba — first planted in 1988 — this 100% Barbera is polished and expressive, with dark red cherry, plum and wild violet layered over mocha, blood orange and exotic spice. Silky tannins and driving, mineral-edged acidity carry a pliant, succulent palate. Fermented in stainless steel with daily pump-overs, then aged 18 months in French oak barriques before bottling — a longer barrel regime than most vintages, giving added structural depth to the variety’s natural vibrancy.
